Why book earlier at 27 miles?
Because 49 minutes each way is most of a two hour round trip before anyone touches the unit. That does not make Paterson expensive, it makes it schedule-sensitive. We fit it into a planned run rather than squeezing it between two closer jobs, and a run that already has one Paterson stop absorbs a second one cheaply.
The honest version: same-day delivery here is possible but it is not something to plan around. Give us 48 hours and we will hit the window. Anything genuinely urgent goes through emergency porta potty rental, and we will tell you on the phone whether the timing is realistic.
What does delivery cost this far out?
$125 to $200 into Paterson, the top of our published delivery band, because at this distance drive time sets the floor rather than access. Access still decides where you land inside the band: a mill yard with a gate is at the bottom, a walked-in placement on a narrow downtown block is at the top.
Weekly service is included on every rental, and ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 sets weekly servicing as the minimum for a portable toilet in normal use. At this range, extra service visits carry real cost, so on long jobs it is usually cheaper to add a second unit than to add a third weekly visit. The arithmetic is on the porta potty rental cost page and the long-term rates are on monthly rental.
Mill conversions are the steady work here
Paterson was built as a planned industrial city around the water power of the Passaic River, and the brick mill buildings that came out of that are now being converted, floor by floor, into residential and commercial space. Those jobs run for months, sit inside a structure with no working plumbing, and almost always need three things at once.
- Standard units on monthly terms, sited where the crew is rather than where the truck stops
- Roll-off dumpsters for demolition volume, with what cannot go in a dumpster worth reading before the first load
- Handwashing stations, because OSHA 1926.51(f)(1) requires washing facilities where workers handle harmful substances and old mill demolition qualifies more often than crews expect
OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) sets the toilet ratio at one per 20 workers on a site running a 40-hour week, counted by people on site. How many porta potties you need does the sizing, and construction site services has the rest of the kit.
Events at the Great Falls
The Great Falls of the Passaic sits in the middle of the city and the land around it is a National Park Service unit, which means federal permissions rather than municipal ones for anything staged there. Start with the park, not with us. Nearby Hinchliffe Stadium, restored and back in use, runs on its own booking process again.
Once the footprint is approved, sizing is ordinary: one unit per 50 guests over a four hour event, plus 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is served, and an ADA accessible unit in any public cluster because the 2010 ADA Standards section 213.2 exception 4 sets 5 percent of a cluster as the accessible share, minimum one. Event restroom rental and festival restrooms cover the two versions of this job.
Paterson permits are Passaic County territory
A unit on a New York City street or sidewalk needs a Department of Transportation permit through a borough office, with turnaround from about a day to several weeks. None of that reaches Paterson. The city issues its own street and sidewalk approvals, and the county and the state hold the roads that pass through, so which office you need depends on which road the unit sits beside.
We check before we quote a right of way placement rather than assuming. The clearance test is the same wherever the answer lands: the 2010 ADA Standards require a 36 inch minimum clear width on a pedestrian access route in section 403.5.1, and a standard unit is about 44 inches wide, so a narrow downtown sidewalk usually rules itself out before any office does. The New York process is on porta potty permit requirements, and the physical checks that apply everywhere are on the placement guide.
Towns on the same northwest run
North Bergen at 14.8 miles is the natural stop between here and the city, and Newark at 16.3 miles is the other job we combine Paterson with. The full list with driving distances is on the service areas page, and the borough comparison is on the New York City rental page.
