Why is a Nassau County job simpler than a Brooklyn one?
Off-street space. Almost every residential address in and around Hempstead has a driveway, a garage apron or a side yard, and a unit on private property involves no municipal approval at all. Inside New York City the same job on a Brooklyn brownstone block has nowhere to put the unit but the sidewalk, and the sidewalk means a Department of Transportation permit.

Village or town? The name covers two things
Hempstead is a village, and it sits inside the Town of Hempstead, which is one of the largest townships in the country by population and covers a long stretch of the South Shore. The two have separate governments and separate rules.
For a driveway placement that distinction never matters. For anything touching a road, a verge or a public parking area it decides which office you deal with, so tell us the actual address rather than just the town name and we will work out which one applies before the truck leaves.
What does delivery cost at 19.8 miles?
$100 to $185. Distance sets the floor at this range, and access barely moves it because access here is usually easy. A driveway drop is a ten minute job.
Weekly service is included on every rental. ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 sets weekly servicing as the minimum for a portable toilet in normal use, and for a household renovation with two or three trades on site that is normally enough. - Home renovation units. The steady work. One standard unit in the driveway for the length of the job, keeping trades out of the house.
- Roll-off dumpsters. Usually a 10 yard or 20 yard on a residential lot, because the bigger sizes need more driveway than most houses have. Footprints are compared on dumpster sizes and dimensions.
- Event restrooms. Graduations, field days and the university-area events that fill the calendar in spring.
- Deluxe flushable units. Backyard weddings and anything with guests, where a standard unit is the wrong call.
Does a driveway placement need anything checked?
Only two things, and neither is paperwork. First, whether the ground takes the weight without sinking, which matters on a soft lawn after rain more than on asphalt. Second, whether the unit blocks anything it should not. The 2010 ADA Standards require a 36 inch minimum clear width on a pedestrian access route in section 403.5.1, and while a private driveway is not a public route, the same clearance is a sensible floor for anywhere people walk past.
A standard unit is about 44 by 48 inches on manufacturer spec, with a 60 to 70 gallon holding tank underneath, which is roughly 200 to 250 uses before it needs pumping. The placement guide covers what our driver checks on arrival.

OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires one toilet per 20 workers on a construction site running a 40-hour week, counted by heads on site rather than by contractor, so a residential job with three trades still needs one unit and no more. OSHA 1926.51(f)(1) adds washing facilities where workers handle harmful substances, which is the clause that puts a handwashing station next to the unit on anything involving demolition.
