What makes Freeport different from the towns inland?
Water, and a lot of it. Freeport is cut through by canals running down to the South Shore bays, and the Nautical Mile along Woodcleft Avenue is a working waterfront of restaurants, charter fishing boats and party boats rather than a decorative one.
That produces two demand patterns nowhere inland has. Marina and dock work, which needs units on bulkheads and narrow service roads. And a summer event season concentrated on a handful of blocks where there is no spare space at all. Both are more about siting than about equipment.
Canal-side and bulkhead placements
A portable toilet next to open water needs a level base and something to stop it moving. We will not set a unit on a bulkhead edge or on soft ground within a few feet of a drop without strapping it to a fixed point, and if there is nothing to strap to, we move it back and run a longer hose instead.
Our driver needs a clear vehicle approach and roughly 30 feet of hose reach, which on a narrow dock road is the number that decides the whole placement. A standard unit is about 44 by 48 inches on manufacturer spec, so a service road that leaves less than four feet of usable width is not going to work whatever anyone promises. Charter and marina crews are a jobsite in their own right on refit weeks. OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires one toilet per 20 workers on a site running a 40-hour week, counted by people present rather than by employer, which for most yard operations here comes out at a single unit with tighter servicing.
Freeport is a flood-prone village, and that changes siting
The South Shore took severe damage in the 2012 storm surge and large parts of Freeport sit in mapped flood zones. Practically, that means we ask about the spot rather than assuming it. A unit that floats is a hazard and a spill, and the fix is almost always as simple as choosing a higher spot or securing the unit properly.
Storm response work runs on its own dispatch rather than the normal route, and that is disaster relief sanitation.
What does delivery cost at 19.9 miles?
$100 to $185, priced on the drive at this range with access moving it inside the band. A driveway on a residential street north of Sunrise Highway sits at the bottom. A unit walked down to a dock on a Saturday in July sits at the top.
Weekly service is included. ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 sets weekly servicing as the minimum for a portable toilet in normal use, and a busy waterfront restaurant event will need more than that, usually two or three visits. Rates by duration with fee lines broken out are on the porta potty rental cost page.
What Freeport orders in summer
- Event restrooms for the Nautical Mile events and village functions, sized at one unit per 50 guests over four hours, plus 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is served
- Deluxe flushable units wherever a restaurant crowd is the audience, because a standard unit outside a seafood place is the wrong impression
- Restroom trailers for larger functions, priced by stall count and needing level ground plus power
- Wedding restrooms for the waterfront venues, which book out early for Saturdays between June and September
- ADA accessible units, required in any public-facing cluster because the 2010 ADA Standards section 213.2 exception 4 sets 5 percent of the cluster as the accessible share with a minimum of one
Do you need a permit in Freeport?
Not on private property, which covers most bookings. A unit on a New York City street or sidewalk needs a Department of Transportation permit through a borough office, with turnaround from about a day to several weeks, and none of that applies out here. Freeport is an incorporated village with its own government, so village streets, village parks and the public docks run on village permissions rather than city or county ones.

Restaurants have a second problem
Every kitchen on the Nautical Mile has a grease trap, and an overflowing one closes a restaurant faster than anything else on a health inspection. We pump them on the same routing as everything else, which is on grease trap pumping. Properties on the outer edges of the village not connected to the sewer use septic pumping instead.
Towns on the same run
