Why does density change the job this much?
Because Union City packs its population into a little over one square mile on the side of a ridge. Row houses run wall to wall, front stoops meet the sidewalk, and off-street space is the exception rather than the rule. There is no version of this job where you point at a corner of the yard, because for most addresses there is no yard.
What that means practically: we need to know before dispatch whether the unit goes in a parking lane, on a sidewalk, in a rear alley, or inside a fenced site. Each answer is a different truck approach and a different price. Send a photo with the quote request and it takes one message instead of three.
The hill is a real constraint
Union City climbs the Palisades, and the cross streets running down toward the Hudson are steep enough to matter to a loaded truck and to a unit standing on them. A portable toilet on a slope is a tipping risk, and the fix is either a level pad or a strap to a fixed point. We will not set a unit on a grade without one of the two.
Bergenline Avenue, the long commercial spine running the length of the city, is the other constraint. Loading anywhere along it is a timing problem rather than a permissions problem, so morning drops work and mid-afternoon ones often do not. Union City sets its own permit rules
A unit on a New York City street or sidewalk needs a Department of Transportation permit through a borough office, with turnaround from about a day to several weeks. None of that carries across the Hudson. Union City issues its own street and sidewalk obstruction approvals through its own offices, and the reserved-parking element is the part that usually takes the time, because a unit in a parking lane takes a space out of a city with almost no spare ones.

What gets rented here
- Standard units on renovation jobs, usually monthly. A standard unit is about 44 by 48 inches on manufacturer spec, which is the number that decides whether a Union City frontage can take one at all.
- ADA accessible units wherever the public reaches the unit, built around the 60 inch diameter turning space the 2010 ADA Standards specify in section 304.3.1.

What does delivery cost at 11.9 miles?
$75 to $150, and the spread is almost entirely about how far the unit has to travel after the truck stops. Weekly service is included on every rental. ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 sets weekly servicing as the minimum for a unit in normal use, and our driver needs roughly 30 feet of hose reach from a spot the vehicle can legally stand in, which on some Union City blocks is the whole planning exercise.

Crews, and what OSHA expects
OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires one toilet per 20 workers on a site running a 40-hour week, counted by people on site rather than by contractor. On the small infill sites that dominate here, that usually means one unit, and the real question becomes servicing frequency instead of unit count. OSHA
